The Senate of Umaru Musa Yar’adua University (UMYU), Katsina, has approved the expulsion of 57 students over their involvement in various forms of examination misconduct.

The decision was reached during the institution’s 125th Regular Senate Meeting held on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, following the recommendations of the University Central Examination Misconduct Committee (UCEMC).

In a statement issued by the university management, five other students were rusticated for two academic semesters (2024/2025 session) after being found guilty of similar offences. Their examination papers were also cancelled.

Additionally, two students received official written warnings, which will be permanently documented in their academic records.

The university emphasized that these disciplinary measures reflect its zero-tolerance stance on academic dishonesty and its commitment to upholding the integrity of its examinations.

"Students are strongly advised to avoid all forms of academic misconduct, as the university will not hesitate to enforce appropriate sanctions in line with its established regulations," the statement read.

UMYU reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining academic excellence and ethical standards across all faculties.
